In the summer of 2020, De Meermin swimming pool in Steenbergen (NL) became the proud owner of three spectacular waterslides, namely a Challenger, a SuperSlider and a ThrillSeeker. Each of the three offers fun and challenges for different target groups.
Project activities
Watergames & More ensured that the client was relieved of all its worries, by carrying out turnkey delivery of the waterslides. Watergames & More took charge of the entire process, including demolition and removal of the existing waterslide and laying the foundations, producing the design and structural calculations, then performing the assembly and technical installation of the new waterslides. Our project coordinator also assumed responsibility for the project, ensuring that all the activities involved were seamlessly aligned.

Opening
Thursday 25 June 2020 heralded the festive official opening of De Meermin’s new slides by students in the age group 10 to 12 years old from local schools, Maria Regina, Gummarus and Nieuwe Veste. The students were given an hour in which to swim and officially inaugurate the slides. A competition was also staged, to see who managed to make the biggest splash. While an ice cream was presented as first prize, everyone was naturally treated to this cool refreshment on such a hot and festive day. Alderman Esther Prent held a brief speech, in which she thanked De Meermin’s team and roused the children to give the staff a resounding applause for all their efforts in ensuring that the pool could reopen safely.
Visitor reactions
The reactions of visitors to the three new waterslides have been very positive. The following reaction was perhaps the most striking of all:
“I followed with interest the demolition of the old yellow slide and the construction of the three new ones. I booked my first admission ticket for today. It goes without saying that the first thing I did was to try out all of the slides. The blue one is fun and offers the longest ride. But that red one is like greased lightning! It is fun to take the plunge together on the orange one. I hope that the new slides will also last for 30 years. While I’m almost 50 already, I nevertheless look forward to another three decades of pleasure! They are a worthy addition to the pool. I sincerely thank your company.”
