In August 2018, a sensational slide attraction opened at Freibad Solimare, the swimming pool complex in Moers, Germany. Delivery of the attraction by Watergames & More was part of extensive renovations of the pool complex. As the party responsible for the playground and the unique slide combination, Watergames & More is particularly proud of this exceptional project.
It took a year’s work to give the swimming pool complex a major metamorphosis. Operations included the construction of several modern indoor pools, outdoor pools, an ice cream parlour & bistro and a sumptuous playground. Watergames & More also erected a large waterslide attraction on the grounds. The attraction comprises a central slide tower, to one side of which two waterslides are connected. These particular slides, also known as Watergames & More Voyagers, enable visitors to swish down on a shallow stream of water at high speed aboard either a one or two-person raft. Furthermore, as they are suitable for fully clothed visitors, the slides can also be used in less clement weather.
Tailor-made solution for the tyre lift
A lift has been installed between the two waterslides, which automatically returns the tyres (rafts) to the top again after use. Watergames & More was instrumental in establishing a new partnership between Mazur and SunKid with a view to constructing the tyre lift. Collaboration with these partners enabled us to deliver a tailor-made system that meets the specific requirements of our client, ENNI. The tyre lift offers Freibad Solimare’s visitors not only convenience, but also improved safety: rendering an overcrowded staircase a thing of the past.
Safe play thanks to start-stop system
The automatic start-stop system fitted enables everyone to enjoy riding the slides without any concern. The fact that there can never be more than one raft at a time on each slide rules out collisions. Automatic turnstiles are fitted at both the top of the slide tower and the end of the waterslide. The turnstile at the top is not released to admit the next two visitors until the previous ones have actually exited the attraction. As the turnstiles and start-stop system vouch for an optimal flow of visitors, little or no physical supervision is required. The deployment of staff has been rendered even more efficient by equipping the lifeguard station with an extensive surveillance system, comprising cameras and loudspeakers. All these smart applications make the slide not only safe for young and old alike, but also cost-effective.
Dry slides
Besides the waterslide attraction, three stainless steel dry slides are attached to the same slide tower. The three start at different heights and feature various shapes, thus offering children of any age group an exciting slide on which to play. The slides are also interspersed with several Perspex sections, which create a light and playful effect. The dry slides aptly complement the waterslides and vice versa; jointly vouching for a versatile & high attraction value.

Entirely bespoke attraction
In incorporating a combination of (water) slides with a vast range of characteristics, we succeeded in appealing to various target groups, while also ensuring that the attraction provides play value regardless of the weather conditions. This enabled Freibad Solimare to gain greater control of its visitor numbers.
