Watergames & More built an outdoor Spray Park, indoor Splash Area (Spray Park equipment in a paddling pool) and indoor waterslide as part of the construction of the brand new Optisport Sports Centre de Soeverein. Built to replace a 45-year-old swimming pool, the sports centre opened on 27 October 2018. Its inclusion of various water attractions is designed to cater to several target groups.
Partners & activities
Watergames & More cooperated with POS4 Architekten of Düsseldorf and Pelikaan Bouwbedrijf in constructing the new sports centre. The German firm of architects POS4 produced the design for the sports centre. Construction was carried out by the Dutch building contractor Pelikaan Bouwbedrijf. Watergames & More built the three water attractions.
One of the water attractions built is the WaveRider, a family waterslide. We supplied the waterslide, which was then finished in shotcrete and decorated. Shotcrete is a type of concrete that is applied in a wet, liquid form. The aim of finishing the waterslide in shotcrete was to create a unique effect, which makes it appear to have been built on a surface of sand and rocks.
The WaveRider is a typical family waterslide and the ideal water attraction for all generations. The slide’s various gradients offer users additional aquatic fun. This type of waterslide can be supplied in a vast range of colours. A sand colour was selected for this project, which neatly matches the decorated sprayed concrete around it.
Watergames & More also installed a catch unit that enables users to land and leave the waterslide safely. The catch unit minimises the risk of users colliding with each other at the end of the ride. The water in the catch unit is shallow, enabling users to leave the WaveRider swiftly and safely. We supply various types of catch unit, all of which can be fully adapted to suit your taste, including finishing in virtually any RAL colour of choice.
Spray Park & Splash Area
We also constructed a Splash Area in the paddling pool directly adjacent to the WaveRider, as well as a Spray Park in the grounds. Read more about it on this project page.
